The 80’s teen, coming-of-age film, Sixteen Candles, is hailed by a lot of people as one of director John Hughes’ most successful comedy films. Released in 1984, Sixteen Candles is described as a teen movie classic which inspired later similar-themed Hollywood films. Perhaps the only other character that could parallel Molly Ringwald’s popularity after the film came out is Jake Ryan – a fictional personality that remained etched in teenage girls’ minds as the ideal boyfriend.
