There are very few nightclubs who specialize and focus on just one musical genre or music from a specific era. Why? Well, aside from the fact that there are also very few club-goers who restrict themselves to certain clubs that play certain kinds of music, doing so will also immediately limit the club’s market and potential patrons. And obviously, the less patrons you have, the worse things are for your business. This is why holding themed parties are common among nightclubs — to prevent patrons from getting bored with their nightly music lineup and to keep the people coming back to the club.
As with most establishments, club proprietors need to constantly mix things up and offer their customers something new and fresh to be able to compete in the entertainment market. Keeping in mind that most club-goers are aged 20s and up (meaning most of these people are 80s babies), reliving the times and music of the 80s is something that spells out F.U.N. for most clubbers. So don’t throw out those neon tights and fishnet stockings just yet, you might still be able to use them for when you go out partying like A Material Girl (or Like A Virgin. Whatever.).
